Hi all.
I'm trying to work out if my car has bluetooth or not. I'm wondering if I can make calls through the cars system and perhaps play music directly from my phone.

I have the phone buttons on the dash and theres a space in the centre console where a phone used to be - but thats missing.
The car shows up on my phone when i serch for bluetooth devices but the cars display just shows as 'discover me' see attached pics. that's as far as it goes.

Am i wrong in thinking bluetooth might be available on my car? (it's a 2003 XJ6 Sport) perhaps it only works with a phone installed? -(im assuming it used to have a phone because of the buttons and phone 'socket' in the centre console..)

cheers
Nerf

These didn't get Bluetooth until 2005 and even then it was only ever for phone calls unfortunately.

The dialpad is for the phone that's in the centre console or if you were to add this option.

Check out Jagdroid CD for a clean way to add Bluetooth music streaming.

Even my 2010 XKR doesn't do Music via Bluetooth, just phone calls.

No problem.

It is strange that you can see a device - someone might have tried to retrofit bluetooth - you see a lot of these cars 2nd hand with 'Parrot' kits

If it's music you want, Jagdroid CD is the best option for keeping things clean and looking like stock but that is music only - there are cheaper options with FM transmitters but not great quality.
