Hi

I am in the market for a XF Sportbrake and spotted a 2015 R Sport Black edition 2.2d 200bhp which I have arranged to view on Monday.

What trim/spec does it have over the base (Luxury!) model?

Get a V6d. That’s all.

+1, V6d all the way.

They can still be coaxed into decent economy - by 6 speed XJ has registered over 50mpg on several gentle commutes. The extra power and torque - plus the (slightly) less tractor noise more than makes up for the lesser economy, IMO

cheers, I cannot afford the v6 - not seen a lowish mileage one within my max.

I have a TVR if I want to have a hoon

Get a 2.2, may as well get a tractor.

2.2d is fine. Espescially the higher output. A lovely daily car.

If I remember right the r sport black essentially swapped out all of the chrome for black (front lower "air intakes", boot above reg strip), black wheels and the upgraded sound.

Not much of a goodie bag, but still a beautiful looking and driving car.

I have found a couple of 3.0's in my price range but are over 100 miles away

At what miles does a 2.2 or 3.0 require the major timing belt service (and any other 'expensive service)

The cars I am looking at have generally done 80 to 90 000 miles

just want to ask the dealer if this has been done etc.

If its the same as my 2.2 508 then its around 10 years or 140k, the 3.0 is something similar however on the 3.0 it needs the injection pump belt changing at the same time so its almost double the cost of the 2.2

Timing belt on a 3.0 is 105k or 10 years.

Wow, so not the expected 2.8 Ford one. Didn't know you could get the S-Type 3.0 in but well done!
