XJS Water leaking into car.
Discussion
Hi, I have just bought myself a nice J reg XJS. As usual I'm finding the anoying niggles now. When it rains, there is water seeping into the car from somewhere near the drivers side door pillar. As the roof has a chrome trim the water goes down the roof pillar and exits near the door hinge. But somehow enters the car as well and is soaking the carpet and it drops a reasonable amount on my right foot.Is this a "they all do that Sir" thing or is it just mine. Obviously I need to address this ASAP.I have considered sealing up the door pillar with mastic from the top is this advisable, any ideas. Great Forum by the way. Cheers all
It is a common fault for the A-pillar drains to become blocked and result in the problems youre describing. Do a search for 'kirby palm book' or something like that and youll be rewarded by a document which when I last looked at it was ~650 pages long, dictating everything that might ever go wrong with an xjs.
Dont block it at the top - trying to stop water getting in is a losing battle, you just have to let it get out once its in.
