XK (X150) YR 2007
Discussion
Hi all
Just bought my first Jaguar XK X150 year 2007
Have a question if anyone can help please.
Whilst driving along at around 40mph if you plant your foot to the floor the rev counter flies up and also engine revs right up and a couple of seconds later the car accelerates like a scolded cat.
Is this how they perform normally or is there something amiss, or should I change the trans oil and filter with the car having done 98k and it not been changed ?
Would anyone have a good video and instructions on trans oil replacement ?
Sorry for so many questions and thankyou in advance for any gratefully recieved advice

Sounds like possible torque converter issue. Is it the same whether in Dynamic or Normal mode? Gearbox does benefit from oil change per ZF procedure and parts but you should have someone diagnose issue properly first. Just bought my first Jaguar XK X150 year 2007

Mine is about the same, a lazy cat. In 'D' they're not fast off the line unless you stamp on them. I presume it's to do with how the electronic fly by wire gubbins is programmed.Have a question if anyone can help please.

Hi
Thankyou for your reply, it is happening in normal D drive.
Is dynamic the S setting on the gear stick meaning sports setting?
If so i havent tried that yet as just finding my way around car.
Does the S position sharpen everything up into a sport mode ?
'S' is 'sport' and in the XK, sadly, all it does is keep you one or two gears lower so you simply go around with the engine screaming whatever you're trying to do. A far cry from the same mode in previous Jags I've owned. I find that the the quickest/surest way to get the old girl's skirts up, eg to overtake, is to use the left-hand paddle to drop one or two cogs, then accelerate. To get it back into 'D', pull the right-hand paddle for 2-3 secs.Thankyou for your reply, it is happening in normal D drive.

The car may have 300bhp on the tin but they are quite well hidden.

Thankyou for that advice, really appriciated.
Have to get used to a different style of driving from my old TVR which was just point and hold on !
Indeed. I was trying to think of anything they have in common, and apart from the fact that the XK arguably looks like a Griff that's been stretched about three feet longer, they're chalk and cheese.Have to get used to a different style of driving from my old TVR which was just point and hold on !
