My 2015 XF 2.2d has suffered a differential failure at 63k miles and the diff has had to be replaced at significant cost. Main dealer (who have serviced the car from new) puts it down to normal wear and tear. I'm arguing with Jaguar UK that their parts should last longer than this.

Just a question for other XF owners of cars of a similar age - has anyone else experienced the same issue?

I had the 2009 XFR, which uses the e-diff.
I'm not sure if the 2.2 uses the same configuration, but the failure i had was due to the e-diff motor.
A small electrical device which wears out, but only needs to be replaced, not the whole diff.

Had my XFR-S diff done earlier this year. I think that a less powerful model should last longer. You can argue with the black hole of Jaguar customer service (they are a unique thing) or pay for a jag warranty (as they paid out £20k for mine in two years) or buy something less enjoyable to drive.

Wear and tear with that mileage? They are having a laugh at your expense!

JLR products are almost good in my opinion. That failure is due to poor engineering, poor quality control or both. It’s not really acceptable but I don’t think you can do much about it... sadly

Car is less than 6 years old. If it has full dealer service history then go down the consumer protection route.

If (if...) it's the same diff as the S-Type, they used to regularly fail at about the same mileage. Mine did, not long after I bought it secondhand and was replaced twice by the supplying dealer as the first (used) unit was goosed too.
