Aside from the obvious on the outside changes and interior, its mainly an extra 40bhp and some suspension changes.
Power was unchanged, but the limiter was raised, so it is faster... Other than that it's a unique body kit, in black only, has forged alloys, different springs/dampers, a faster steering rack and a stiffer rear anti roll bar.ETA - forgot - it's got the Alcon brakes too.
If OP has found a good example then I'd go for it!
Essentially - what Mike_Mac said, plus the fact that there were only 200 built, 50 of them for the UK. Yes they get some nice upgrades (brakes, suspension, limiter) plus all the cost options from the regular XKR list but essentially the premium is for the exclusivity only. I considered one after my last 2008 XKR but concluded that while a nice thing to have and possibly less prone to further depreciation than the car I already had, I wanted something that was more of an upgrade so I got a 2010 5.0 XKR.
I do still have a saved search on Autotrader for the 4.2 XKR-S and they seem to be holding fairly firm, it is perfectly possible to get a nice 5.0 XKR for less. If you want the exclusivity factor then I'd insist on any candidate car being in particularly good condition (underneath as well as up top) before being happy to pay that much for it.

Don’t confuse the 4.2 and 5.0 versions. Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
