I need to replace one of my CTEK battery conditioners and I was wondering what rating people use on their X150s. The one I'm currently using is the 3.6Amp one but it never seems to show that it is in maintenance mode, it always seems to show the battery as by half charged.

Can’t go wrong with a CTek MXS 10 charges at 10 amp and will do AGM batteries.

Cheers, that looks like a more suitable gadget, the one I'm using was originally bought for my XK150 which didn't have the same power needs.

The 3.6A one should still fully charge the battery, just it will take longer. If it's never showing fully charged even after 24 hours or so then I'd be suspicious of the battery first rather than the charger.

FWIW though, I have the CTek MXS5.0 and it does perfectly well - I plug it in overnight and by morning it's all done and dusted. Also compatible with AGM batteries too.

Thanks, the battery was new last year and even when just fitted behaved the same. I guess it's possible the power draw when I unlock things is resulting the it charger going back into charging rather than maintenance mode. I'll try not having the actual inside the boot so that I can see it without unlocking things first.

Definitely worth having the comfort indicator (short fly-lead with a simple battery charge level indicator on the plug) and an extension cable so you don't need to have the whole thing in the boot. Battery age does not necessarily define condition but I guess it could also be that there's some residual drain on the battery from the car which means your current charger is fighting an uphill battle.

That was probably it.
My older CTEK has longer leads and I could have the unit out of the car on the floor. A couple of hours later it was showing fully charged and being in maintenance mode.
I'll keep my eye on for a couple of days, but that looks like what's happening. The computers probably start up when you open the boot.
