JAGUAR S Type R yay or nay?

Evening guys...
Long story short, looking at getting a Jaguar S type R. Anyone owned/driven one on here?
I know they're getting on abit now, but they tick alot of my boxes. Always slipped off my radar until now.
There's a few bits on here about them, but nothing recent.
Aside from the obvious rust and valley hoses, is there anything else I should look out for?

I had a 4.2 NA but regretted not getting an R. When looking at them also check the Aircon works both sides. The DCC valve has a tendancy to fail which can then damage the controller in the car. These can often be repaired by a simple solder of the burnt track , however damage can also occur to the loom. All fixable but expensive if you are paying to have the work done.
I ran a late pre-facelift model for 18 months - one of the few cars I regret selling.
Not as focused as an M5 but in many ways a better car most of the time, incredibly comfortable, very refined and with the back boxes deleted it sounded superb.
Only real known weak spots are sill corrosion behind the covers and the valley pipe

I have a 2005 with 200k miles.
Drive - it is a beautifully serene cruiser, that can go fast IF you really need it. The soundproofing is good, so you never really hear the engine or feel particularly inclined to drive fast.
Engine - valley hose is a costly job. Mine never actually ruptured, but I had to do the knock sensors at 195k and so had it done at the same time
Gearbox - you do need to change the oil every 80k miles. I had the mechatronic rebuilt (~£600 iirc) at 160k
Body - rust underneath is a bit of an issue, but the sills really need early rustproofing. I think I caught mine just in time.

Had this on my XJ this week! It coincided (by sheer chance) with my prying the gearbox selector out of Park and absolutely terrified me. A charge later and all errors are gone. The scary one is 'UNOFFICIAL PARTS FITTED', which could be absolutely anything! I thought my car was dying but it was an led bulb sapping the battery slowly, scared the st out of me
A real Q car with very few problems given regular maintenance. It won't rape your wallet like an M5, people will move over for you to overtake, and they'll let you out at junctions.
Don't pay too much though; quite a few were sold, and the survival rate is very high, so there are plenty to choose from.

Thinking being it might be possible to make a 5.0 STR with 500+bhp...
Minor intake and exhaust differences only. It’s quite easy and inexpensive to get a lot more power from the 4.2 engine; much easier and less expensive than transplanting the 5.0.Thinking being it might be possible to make a 5.0 STR with 500+bhp...
