5.0XKR Water pump, any tips?

Water pump has failed on my 09 XKR and aside from Eurocar parts telling the wrong part, any tips on how to change it?Anything to watch out for?

Although the water pump on my XKR has been perfect, the one on my range rover went a couple of years ago, same engine.

Easy enough job the swap out on the RR, although access there was tight, so it might be even tighter on the Jag.

The only thing I fecked up was the small push fit pipe and connector on the front face of the pump. Not sure what I did, but didn't twig it was a push fit plumbing style connection and ended up buggering it up. Should have put my glasses on when doing the job I guess.

Other than that just unbolt, bolt... assuming you can get access.

Access is tight and awkward due to bonnet opening ‘wrong way’

Top tip I would advise is to unclip the bonnet struts from the car and there’s a pair of holes in the hinges you can insert something in there to hold the bonnet more or less vertical.

It’s relatively easy overall but it’s just awkward due to access and yeah watch out for the small plastic water outlet pipe on the pump housing. You have to push the outside in whilst pulling the pipe out (will hopefully make more sense when looking at the car)
