Jaguar F-Pace SVR Insurance
Discussion
I am considering one of these later in the year to replace my Mercedes AMG C63.
I am horrified by the insurance quotes though - my existing insurers won't cover it due to the value (£76k) and the best quotes I can get off comparison sites are in excess of £1100.
Considering I pay under £700 for the Merc (which is only 2 years old) I consider this excessive - I am over 50 with 15 years NCD and 1 glass claim 18 months ago, no convictions. I live in a rural part of Lancashire.
Anybody any suggestions - obviously the car will be 'trackered' in some way.
Help!!

That does seem rather nuts. Mainstream insurers are really only geared up for average motors and yours is obviously off the scale. My XK, for example, according to my last insurer was an 'XH'. The 20-somethings in the office had no idea what it was. A TVR Griffith is a 'Griffin' and possibly some sort of Triumph....
Try specialist/classic car insurers, and see if joining a Jaguar car club (JDC, JEC for example) might help. Maybe a limited mileage policy too. There has to be a way.
ETA: Ahem! You're a retired insurance broker!

I had a similar experience - timing and shopping around is the key.
I swapped from XFR (same engine) to F-Pace SVR a year ago and my current insurer wanted a load of cash plus set my excess at £2.5k.
For many mainstream insurance companies anything over £75k is a no no.
A few months later (when car was worth £10k less - LOL) and my insurance was up for renewal the quotes were much better - still 50% more than 6 year old XFR - but at least with a normal excess.
But don’t give up hope - the SVR is a great car!

He’s a retired broker, he should know all that stuff. I had a similar experience - timing and shopping around is the key.

Thank you for the comments about my previous occupation - interesting but totally irrelevant as I spent 30 years dealing with BUSINESS insurance - not private car stuff!!
Irrelevant? It’s all based on risk and statistics etc, you should still know more than we average Joes on the internet but it’s not that hard to understand, really. Makes no sense. For perspective I am 48 and live in rural Suffolk, have never made a claim and have no points.
- Ferrari 488 Value £250k insurance £450
- Audi RS6 Value £90k insurance £440
- Aston Martin Vantage V12S Value £125k Insurance £400
- Tesla Model S Performance Value £110k Insurance £900 (shocker! But includes business and can drive any other car not owned by me fully-comp).
I think you need to shop around, try NFU who do the first 3 of those 4.
