X150 XKR jump start
Discussion
My 2010 XKR is garaged a few miles from home, and on my last visit to it, pre-"lockdown", I found that the battery was completely flat. I was surprised as it had only been standing 3 weeks and it has previously started easily after being let 7 or 8 weeks. The battery is just over 2 years old.
Anyway, according to the handbook there should be 2 terminals in the boot that can be used to attach jump start cables, one behind the l/h trim panel and one in the spare wheel well. My car, however, does not have a terminal in the spare wheel well. There appear to be 2 terminals behind the trim panel though, one fairly flimsy one nearer the outside of the car with various wires in the close vicinity, and a larger one nearer the opening for the panel with a black wire attached, on a mount that is secured to the lamp surround metalwork. Both appear original rather than a previous owner bodge, but have no markings (such as + or -) to indicate their purpose.
Would anyone be able to clarify whether these are in fact the terminals I would need to jump start the car?
I have resigned myself to removing and charging or replacing the battery when I am eventually able to get back to the car, to be on the safe side as much as anything, but it would be useful to identify them for future reference.
Many thanks in advance for any information.

I had to access mine (2010 XK) yesterday to connect a CTEK for the first time. The photos in this link should help you find the positive, and as said already, the negative is in the spare wheel well and is just a threaded point sticking up out of the floor.

There is no insulating cap on either of the terminals behind the panel on my car, and the arrangement behind the trim panel on mine is different to those pics on jaguarforums. Unfortunately I can't go and take a pic at the moment, as much as I'd like to consider it an essential journey!
Thanks both for the input.

The CTEK on my X150 just died no lights on the top row when I connect it to the charging points (or if I just turn it on without it being connected)And the one on my X300 the select button is playing up
what is the world coming to at the moment.
Sorry, back to discussing the charging points on the X150. I've never looked for the -ve terminal in the spare wheel well. My +ve terminal is behind the left hand trim panel down the bottom towards the front and is covered by a rubber boot. For the -ve connection I just clip onto one of the exposed bits of metal behind that panel. Wouldn't want to jump start it through those as they're a bit light but fine for charging.
I thought I'd read that the tin tops arrangements were different to the soft tops, which is what I've got.
My car is a tin top. If there was only one of what I would describe as a terminal behind the trim panel, and more like the description in the handbook, I wouldn't be so puzzled. I'd probably have assumed it was the +ve and would have used a suitable part of the metalwork elsewhere as an earth as has been suggested. Neither of the two terminals on mine are labelled or covered with any cap or insulator. The larger one nearer the opening is more sturdy than the other.
I suppose I could clamp my positive lead to each of them in turn with the earth attached somewhere suitable and see what happens, though it is more likely I'll just take the battery out and charge or replace it. If the car was kept at home I'd put a conditioner on it but I wouldn't want to do so where, during the winter, it is sometimes unattended for weeks at a time.

Fezspider - thanks a lot for taking the effort to post the photo's, that is very helpful, though still different to mine! It does, however, make me wonder if I have got that +ve lurking under the the other bits in there. What year is your car?
I'll have to get a photo of mine, and play about with a tester - maybe I need to drive over to it and take my permitted daily exercise where I garage it...........

You know what RB CV8, I have a 2008 model. Of course you have a face lift 2010 + version. I reckon they might be in different places.
The 2010 XK models have completely different engines than my pre face lift 4.2 2008 car, so why not subtle wiring details.
So I think that might be why you dont have the terminal in the same location. Maybe?

Good point, though SweptVolume above has a 2010 car. I have just had another look at my handbook too - it is dated 2008 so maybe I won't expect everything to match the car.....The 2010 XK models have completely different engines than my pre face lift 4.2 2008 car, so why not subtle wiring details.
