Japanese Jaguars
Discussion
Dear all,
My father's beloved XJ350 has succumbed to numerous electrical gremlins which have rendered it unreliable. We have been looking around at replacements and have discovered the lovely Japanese imports. These look rather good, if a little expensive. Millage is low, condition excellent and all petrol-powered (he is of a generation that would consider a diesel jaguar an oxymoron). Anybody been down this route? is there anything we should be aware of?
A company called Jag West London, or XJ Cars (it isn't clear from the website) in Haynes has a good selection. Anybody know more about them?
Thanks in advance.

I've no experience of the company you mention but I did detail a Jap S-type R for a local specialist last year.
Fundamentally it was a very nice car, both cosmetically and mechanically. I did notice the tyres date marker was pretty old despite the low mileage of the car so something to look at. If I was a buyer I'd be looking for a new set of decent tyres to be fitted as part of a deal.
The spec was slightly different to a UK car. From memory I think it had a electric rear blind but no quickclear screen, there were also a coupleo of other oddities.
No signs of corrosion underneath so ideal base for liberal application of waxoyl/dinitrol or whatever to keep it that way on our salt covered winter roads!
Cheers,
Chris
