New P450 RWD at 70 grand looks value to me.

Yes its inferior to a Porsche or a AMG GTS, but its a Supercharged V8 - the days of these engines are numbered imo.

Pretty well specced, id grab the black wheels and black pack and in british racing green please.

Certainly a strange move by Jag to offer this engine in the first place. The contract with Ford allegedly runs out this year for it. Then what? Beemer engines rolleyes

But engine aside, why would you spend £70k on the ugly sibling? They’ve screwed up the last good looking Jag.

Agreed, with dark red leather and a dealer discount think it’s good value.

450 is plenty

My 550 RWD is almost undrivable in winter at anything other than feather light throttle inputs

I've a BRG coupe with black pack & brown leather ;-) Its only a 340 v6 & i cant put the power down without wheelspin. It would be almost impossible to get a good launch with a V8 RWD.

Very tyre dependant. MPS4S are pretty damn good even this time of year. P-Zeros are truly awful, so if you have those on then I know what you mean.

Hmm. How would a 5.0 XK-R compare in the terms of getting the power (510bhp) down? If I put my foot down to overtake I don't want to end up backwards in a hedge.

I was talking about from a standing start. Above 2nd gear grip is fine.

In my experience with the XKR is if you're careless it can break traction at pretty much any time you want, or don't! Feed in the power rather than stomp on the loud peddle. The traction control system is setup to assume you probably know what you're doing and that having the tail jumping around is probably what you wanted. It can have an evil sense of humour before stepping in and putting the car back into a straight line for you. Why buy a 500+BHP if you don't want some tail out fun biggrin.
The tyres on mine when I bought it weren't great and if you weren't precise on the loud peddle then it was easy to break traction and not find yourself going in a straight line. Newer tyres are better. Others have said that the PZeros just aren't the right choice of the car and I'll certainly be looking for alternatives when I next need new boots.
SWMBO doesn't drive the XKR often but always put it into winter mode when she does where the TC assumes you don't want it to have an evil sense of humour, and act more like the TC in her Merc.
