2004 jaguar XJR ECU
Discussion
Had a major catastrophic ECU meltdown turned out to be water ingress and the ECU is dead. Trying to find a replacement is proving to be a major problem.
If I could get a second hand one and have it checked it would be great but even obtaining a new one is proving difficult.
I wish I had bought a Car that was built here in England so the parts would be available.
Anyhoo any ideas???

Try these chaps - they have some similar but not quite a match - they might be able to source one

After many many Emails.Texts and phone calls I have gone for a new one . It was water damaged and no chance of repairing it.
I have been so lucky over the years with repair costs so maybe this is a bit of catch up but 15 year old Car can have its problems. How or when the ECU got wet is an unknown my last journey was to the Breakfast club it drove superbly and it wasn't raining on the day and it looks like it had water in it for sometime but I guess I will never really know how or when the water got in. The Pollen filter housing was completely dry.

There is a chance I may have one from an S-Type R lurking in the garage somewhere. Shout if you have second thoughts about the new one and mine would work.
Cheers. The problem is there are so many variations in the ECU getting a secondhand one to communicate with all the other stuff was a bit of a gamble.
Still a chance it will not work the pessimist in me expects the worst and hopes for the best.

Cheers There are a few variations in the numbers which I haven't been able to establish what they mean. I would assume the S Type SC engine would have similar engine modules to the XJ 350 but who knows the lengths Jaguar go to complicate matters. Thanks for looking I am hoping and waiting for a positive result tomorrow.
New to PH so beware noob posting. All jag modules the last two characters are the software revision. You WILL need to reprogram the module as the cars security id is partly included in the ECU. DO NOT leave this to someone who does not know what they are looking at. It requires the SSD and the latest images to do this. You WILL brick the car if you it goes wrong. Ensure that who ever does the work of re-coding does a 'Full Scan' first this will save the security id block to disc in case of issues.

CheersOne of the reasons I ended up with new was the possibility of errors in "reflashing" a second hand one. The Car is with a very well known Jag specialist Bob Bates who has the necessary equipment to install the new ECM...….hopefully.

Blocked drains. Check under the pollen filter. Sorry, but this will save your next ECU..
Autoreserve may have one?
The Pollen filter area was bone dry and the drain clear. It doesn't mean it wasn't blocked in the past though. The new one is in the process of being fitted I await the phone call to say its done and then the BillAutoreserve may have one?
All done now. The ECU was programmed but it had blew a couple of ignition coils and an Oxygen sensor. I have had 10 or more Jags this is the first that has required anything more than servicing well other than a Turbo on a Stype 10 years ago. It has made me think twice about buying older Cars even with a good service History you are always one breakdown away from a hefty bill
