I'm hoping someone here can help as I've currently got a dead petrol 3 litre X350.

The car has been stood for 3 years.

When I tried to start it a few days ago, the car started straight away, ran for about 5 seconds and then cut out. It won't start at all now.

It has fuel in it but I'm not sure it is getting to the engine. If I pour a little neat petrol in the intake manifold, it fires up but cuts out.

There is a loud buzz from the front of the engine like a fuel pump with no fuel in.

Can anyone suggest how to get tbis old cat running again?

I thought perhaps it is old fuel but it's only been stood 3 years so wouldn't expect it to go off in that time.

Thete seems to be spark which is what makes me think it's fuel related.

Fuel filter would probably be the best place to start, for all the cost of it. Have you got an icarsoft reader?

Your description certainly sounds fuel related. Fuel pump failure is common with the X100 series XK8/R so possible on an X350 XJ. The XK has a schrader valve at the front of the engine on the fuel lines. Quick easy check for fuel pressure assuming theres one on your engine/car.
