1998 XJR engine serial number.

No way can I see it. According to the workshop manual, it´s somewhere near the thermostat housing, does anyone know If it's lurking under a hose somewhere? Anyone have a photograph of the actual number on their car?
I've also seen during interweb searching, that some of the nikasil engines that were replaced under warranty, with steel linered engines, have the number on the back of the block...again, does anyone have a picture of the location?
I found the engine build spec. number on the vertical fin, on the block just above the steering rack, on the left hand side, but this is of no use to me.
It's driving me bonkers!
