My first post having looked at pistonheads for nearly a decade!

Need to get my XFR-S Sportbrake serviced. Was thinking of sticking with a Jaguar Main Dealer as I am half way through the Jaguar approved warranty period, having purchased it just over a year ago.

The supplying dealer was in Kent and I am based in the West Midlands and would prefer to take it to somebody within a reasonable striking distance.

Have tried to do lots of research online but most main dealer reviews focus on new and used car buying and not regular service/maintenance.

Any recommendations ideally with a name of the service manager would be much appreciated.

I just moved to area and used Jaguar Droitwich. They are a good bunch and sorted me a loaner of my choice and stuck to the fixed price servicing...speak to Laura.

Thanks for the Jaguar Droitwich suggestion, has anyone else had any good or bad experiences with these guys? Part of the Lister Group I believe.

Appreciate the comments on Marshalls in Oxford too. This is consistent with a few people I have spoken to at local Jaguar club events.

Has anyone had experience of Guy Salmon in Coventry for servicing or other dealerships in or around Birmingham?

Always been fine for me. They open at 7am - which is perfect to drop the car off, pick up a courtesy car and get to a customer for 9am. In fact mine’s there now for a new aux timing chain tensioner.

I’ve been quite happy with the service at Listers Solihull for the last few years. They even leave my dash cams connected in the workshop.

Don’t let them wash it though.

Guy Salmon Coventry have a good reputation, but I’ve never used them myself.

I bought my XF from Droitwich. Really pleased with the service I received.

It's a little bit further away from me than Stratstone Jaguar Stourbridge, so I used them for my service a few weeks ago. The girl on the centralised booking system was hard work. I knew which service the car needed, but she didn't...

The garage seems efficient and there were no problems. Also my father has used them a number of times on his XF for the last 4 years.

Thanks for the further feedback.

Spoke to Droitwich and Coventry.

Smaller minor service required on elapsed time not mileage.

Interesting they quoted different prices... One said supercharged V8s excluded from the fixed priced servicing, other one said would apply ?! Has anybody else had this experience?

2.5 hours required @ £255 vs £307 including VAT. Not a huge difference but buys a meal out.

Read reviews about tight parking for customers cars and excessive waiting to drop and collect at Droitwich so will probably give Coventry a go this time and will share my experiences.

Yes, let us know.

They are useless, all engines are included in fixed price. Take the form in to show them:

I have just found out Jaguar Stratstone Stourbridge are closing the branch, so that's one to take off the list.

Triple7 - thanks for sharing the link to the fixed priced servicing info

There appears to be a discrepancy between the XF (2007 to 2015) - where my XFRS fits in, and the XJ, XKR and F Type for the supercharged 5.0 engine

XJ/XKR/F Type clearly show both NA/SC in the model description with pricing, whereas XF only says 5.0 NA and doesn't state SC. I believe it is because of this that one of the dealers mentioned the XFRS is not included.

Not sure if this is just a conscious omission or mistake by Jaguar. Not many XF SCs produced of course vs XJ/XKR/F Types, but that shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Will push the point with the dealer and see how far I get.

Wanted to get some input on spare wheel solutions for the XFRS Sportbrake that I can hopefully action at the upcoming service.

Slightly off original topic.

My car comes with the bottle of gunk and no spare which I understand was standard spec. Don’t like going on long journeys relying on this as a solution.

Having done some research the sales literature at the time mentioned a 19 inch space saver as an option. My current wheels are the standard 20 inch Varuna alloys which I believe are different sizes front and rear.

Ideally I would like to put in a full sized spare but don’t think it will fit as there is a black plastic wired in box in the boot well that I understand has something to do with the music system.

All experiences and thoughts gratefully received.

Took the car into Guy Salmon Coventry for the service and to fit 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport 4s.

Experience was good. Everything in place when I arrived. They started work on the car straight away. Well set up area for people to work with desks, chairs and decent WiFi. A few cups of tea later and the work was done. They cleaned the car and the service was charged at the agreed price.

Whilst sitting in the dealership, spoke to one of the sales team and managed to arrange a test drive in the F Pace SVR.

Very impressed with the car overall. Particularly surprised by the quality of the ride. I was expecting it to be harder than it was, especially as the demo car was fitted with the optional 22” wheels. Grip and traction significantly better than the XFRS by virtue of the 4 wheel drive. Think this will be a very attractive car in 3 to 4 years time when it should have depreciated from £75k to around £35 to £40k. Buy it with a 2 year Approved Warranty - will be very good value.

Making some progress on the spare wheel solution. Coventry kindly checked if a 19 inch space saver will fit, which it will, sitting on top of the black sub-woofer. Just need to order in a few of the other parts to seat it properly and I can get these fitted before a couple of longer trips coming up.

Overall thumbs up for my first Coventry experience, will be going back again.

The Michelins have made a big difference over the factory fitted Pirelli P Zeros. Not just in the grip which was to be expected but also a clear reduction in road noise. Haven’t used them in the wet yet but should be better from all accounts.

On the way home, stopped at Spires just outside Warwick to have the stage 2 exhaust fitted. Had been thinking about this for a while as the XFRS is too subdued with the standard exhaust. Again very pleased with the results. Also very surprised at the shape and size of the original silencers. Deeper, louder sound and lighter too. Big thank you to Matt - top job. I believe he has fitted most XFRSs with an upgraded exhaust, I can see why!!

Time now to enjoy the car in this warm weather when the tyres are at their stickiest....

I bought one of those temporary repair kits from Amazon for around £15. You can repair thy tyre without even taking it off but you will need a tyre inflator, but they can be had cheap as well. I've used it for a friend already and was very quick and easy.

+1 on Lister's Droitwich. Two visits to date, nice place, very friendly staff, very pleased. I will be going again. They will also honour the fixed price servicing (incl. s/c models) which Stratstone Stourbridge would not (the scheme was after all dealer optional). Academic now since as noted earlier Stratstone Stourbridge has now closed its doors.
