Hello All,
My 2014 XF Sportbrake is having an intermittent issue with the door mirrors not unfolding when unlock the door via the drivers door handle (as opposed to the keyfob). Sometimes if I give a second pull on the handle they will open, but not every time.

As there are no other problems and it seems to work fine if unlocked via a different door handle, I assume there must be a faulty micro-switch somewhere within the door handle/lock assembly. Chances are, it probably just need a clean or worst case the micro-switch replaced.

I've done a Google search and only found one reference to a similar problem, where the solution from the dealer was to replace the whole door lock.

So a couple of questions:
1) Has anybody had this issue before and how did you resolve it?
2) Has anybody got a drawing/diagram/photo of the drivers door handle/lock mechanism?

Cheers. smile

Is it returning any codes? If you don't have one already I can recommend getting the icarsoft LR2.0 as it reads Jaguar specific codes and also has other functions including forcing a regen.

There is reference to a possible short circuit between the driver's door module and the mirror assembly so it sounds like you are on the right track. The door cards are easy to get off, it could be something as simple as a bit of moisture getting to the electrics.

Here's a photo of the module if it helps, it's number 2. There are four screws (two sizes of torx) holding the door card in place along with a number of push fittings and it's best to use a trim removal tool.

To remove the door card:

1. Small torx screw behind round plastic tab behind inside door handle
2. Two larger torx screws behind plastic covers found underneath at either side of the door grab handle
3. Small torx screw behind some fake trim at the very end of the top door trim where it meets the window (you need to open the door, it's a small triangle piece of fake trim which pops out)

Use a trim removal tool to pop the push fittings out (they are very stiff and needs some pressure).

Thanks. I guess it's time to invest in a code reader - can't be more expensive than hour of a dealers time.

So where does the reader plug in?

Very inexpensive, especially considering what it can do.

I can't remember why but I mind reading to avoid ebay and amazon. Perhaps due to fake ones.

Simply plugs into the obd2 port which is in the driver's footwell on the right hand side underneath the boot release button. Just to the right of the footwell light and no need to remove any trim as it's openly accessible.

Here you go :
