Hi,

Any thoughts on this please, I had an agreed valuation on my 98 XJR with Adrian Flux last year at £12k.

This year they are saying its valuation is £10k.

Why would this be ?

Its still in prime condition, if not better than the previous year and the mileage is just shy of 75k going up by 1500 miles on the previous year....

Hi,
Have you spoken to them about this? I had a similar situation with a classic Mini but they didn’t actually put the value down, it was when I asked for it to be put up and the value was put back to the original figure, yet I had done more work and all Mini values were rising.
I have my Daimler Super V8 LWB agreed at £10k and is a similar rare car to yours in this condition. I am at present waiting for valuation on our MG RV8 and when I spoke to one of the Flux people I told him what value I had in mind and he said he had been checking the web and my value seemed low as he couldn’t find one at that price. I’ll see what they come back with. Meanwhile it’s on a ‘market value’ basis and one company suggests that the agreed value is what you would expect to have to pay for a similar vehicle in the event of total loss, which to me actually IS the market value, so why we have to jump through hoops and pay extra for ‘agreed value’ is starting to confuse me.
The problem with this agreed value lark is that you pay your money up front and then they come back with a value and it’s their final decision and most of these policies give no money back if you cancel. Perhaps a court might deem that to be an unfair contract.

It smells a bit to me. At Flux you cannot have direct dialogue with the valuations decision maker either which is frustrating. Apparently they dont have a phoneline in that office bks !

I told them not to take my agreed valuations fee whilst I think about this, low and behold I got an email half an hour ago thanking me for the payment !

I have three “ normal” family cars insured with them for the first time because they mullered the multi car quote that I got from Aviva, but I won’t be doing it again next year.

They said I can cancel and receive £79 back, the policy has only been running for a month and it was £250.

I will call an independent valuations company as a point of principal now.

Yes, I agree but they know that one way or another you will have to pay for that valuation. I’ve had agreed valuation for many years - 24 with an XJ-S Cabriolet and about 5 with this Daimler plus the Mini and bikes and in reality, by the time they have arsed about with the valuations, you are lucky to get 11 months each year - the rest of the time it’s market value. I wish I dare leave them all at market value and fight them in court if they don’t pay the going rate - too much of a ‘perceived’ risk, I know. At least with Highwaymen, you knew they had their hand in your pocket.
