For Rocket Barge smile
I found a bit of rot inside the front of the sills, so as I'm off to sea again for a while, I thought it would be a good time to run it into my friends body shop here in Mallorca.
Decided to pop the wings off, and see what's going on behind there, fearing more rot.
But hey! She's all good smile
A coat of Wurth underbody sealer to the inside of the front wings, and flitches while they're off.
Rear bumper off, as it's had a nudge, (as is the norm in Spain rolleyes ) all good behind, apart from a broken absorber, and a couple of broken plastic clips, so that'll all be sorted.Waiting for new parts.
Wheels have gone off to be straightened, as when I took it in to have the wheels balanced, (she was shaking like a stting dog) the Guy doing the balancing pointed out there were actually flat spots! I guess the Old Geezer who had it before me, must have kerbed it pretty badly... I sent all four off, to be sure.
I'll be checking suspension arms when I get around to pulling it apart.
I'd like to replace the wheels with aftermarket, but not sure what yet, so these will do for now, as I was quoted 250 euro a wheel to refurb. Not sure they are worth it, although I do like the standard wheels. Any suggestions anyone? I want to stick with the standard 8 x 18 size.
Still loving the car. Been commuting 120 km a day since I got it driving
That's it for now. thumbup

Tasty

Mick, do you live in Spain?

How do you find that, generally, property prices, cost of living etc.?

I used to go to Formentor, which is in in your part of the world. It was stunning, of course.

I need to live somewhere warmer with fresh air, and I can see the Corbyn/Sturgeon era coming!

I do Sir,
I can´t really compare it to Blighty, as I've lived here for over 20 years, and left the old country in around 92, to travel the World.
I think the fact that I've been around this big blue marble several times, and settled here, says it all really.
There are some beautiful places on the planet, but we are close to europe, so it's easy to get anywhere, and the lifestyle, and climate is just idyllic.
For me anyway.
I have no intention of going anywhere else. I've found my hobbit hole smile

Dropped in for a quick look, on my way home from the ship yesterday. The lads did a nice job. Just waiting for rear bumper absorber and clips to arrive, and the wheels to come back from straightening.
They attended to any rust with Ospho, which neutralises it and turns it black, and have given it a nice coat of Wurth underbody sealer.
Next job will be to attend to the first signs of blistering at the bottom corner of the rear window, and nearside wheel arch.
I think the wheel arch has already had one put over the top.
I don't like that, I prefer the bad one to be cut out, and the new one joggled into the rear panel.
I think I'll get that sorted in the not too distant future.
In the meantime, back to sea tomorrow...

Those are very nice cars, and the Mediterranean climate the ideal place to have one.

Have you seen the Carfection Video of a Boxster GTS at Formentor in ‘World’s Best Driving Roads’ with Henry Catchpole?

Do you find owning property under the Spanish system complex or problematic?

I know the road well, in fact we are anchored at the bottom of the very gorge as I type smile
But that road is better suited to my Caterham (Which isn't finished yet, but I had one here previously), and I sometimes ride it on my bike, but the surface can be slippy, it's a bit like polished stone.
No problems with property ownership, as I reformed my house myself, the quality of build normally isn't the best, and the only problems I've had have been getting permissions from the town hall, but after a while, you learn to play their game smile
I enjoy living here a lot!
Unfortunately the job situation means I have to give up my personal freedom in the summer, unless I want to serve drinks, or wait on tables. Hopefully I will be changing that in the near future smile

This is my view of Sa Calobra from sea. The bottom of the road you mentioned 🙂

I remember taking a hire car down and up Sa Calobra maybe 30 or more years ago. Empty roads almost. I suspect they are rammed theses days.

Yep. Cyclists, coaches and hire cars.
But we get to play on those crisp blue winter days 😉
