I'm after advice on which wind deflector to get for my new XKR convertible.

The OEM part can be found but is expensive and I understand requires mounting brackets placed within the rear seats.
Second hand ebay units usually seem to be missing the required brackets.

I don't mind an aftermarket alternative if the quality is acceptable.
Can anyone recommend any of the following, or indeed is the OEM part the way to go?:

Adamesh: https://www.adamesh.co.uk/jaguar-xk--xkr-wind-defl...

Aperta: https://www.cabriosupply.co.uk/jaguar-xk-r-x150-wi...

Aperta (lightweight): https://www.cabriosupply.co.uk/jaguar-xk-r-x150-al...
I'm particularly interested in whether the aluminium construction / finish is worth the extra, over a leatherette wrapped steal unit.
Aperta can also offer a protective case which could certainly be useful.

Ebay cheapy: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wind-deflector-windbloc...

Any alternatives that I've missed?

Thanks

I bought the Adamesh one. It's perfect, good quality, fits perfectly, no issues.

Makes a huge difference when at speed. I've also got the rear windows able to put up when the roof is down. With all 4 windows up and the deflector up I get not much more than a light ruffling of the top of my head, even at 90+ type speeds. smile

Did you acquire the electronics kit from the States to do this, and was this recently i.e. is it still available?
Was it straightforward to fit and commission?
Can you also operate the roof remotely?

Thanks.

Yes indeed. I bought the kit via Adamesh as well IIRC. The guy making and selling the kit is very active on the Jaguar Forums website and there's a few threads on there about it. Two versions , one with rear window control, one without. I bought the version with. Took me about 2-3 hours to install, the instructions are accurate and literally step by step with photos as to what you need to do.

Makes using the roof a pleasure. Remote open/close, one touch operation when inside the car, able to raise/lower the roof when moving slowly, and the abilty to raise lower the rear windows with the roof down. Basically worth every penny of the cost to buy. Mate it with the rear deflector and it makes the car a very civilsed top down cruiser even on the motorways.

Can you tell I'm a very happy customer ? biggrin

Sound interesting, very interesting.
I had a quick gander at their website and couldn't see it, do I need to call them or is there a product name I can search for?

I found it....
https://www.adamesh.co.uk/jaguar-xk--xkr-convertib...

I first came across this on a US Jaguar forum. Developed by someone with the handle WhiteXKR.
They were being sold in the US for €299, but I don't know if still available direct.

I also bought the Adamesh one, just last week in fact. I have the X150, and the deflector slotted right into place with no additional parts required. I presume you have the X100 XKR, which I have heard does require some fiddling to fit.

After ordering, I realised that they're based a few miles from my house, so I rang them up to change to order to collection; they answered the phone quickly and were very helpful. Upon visiting, they seemed knowledgable and genuine. If you are unsure about anything, I recommend giving them a call and I'm sure they'll help.

No, mine's an x150 as well, 2010 5.0 S.C convert, and I agree , the Adamesh deflector fitted perfectly and has been faultless for the last 18 months or so.

Maybe you're referring to my comment about the roof control kit... that takes 2-3 hours to fit.
