I currently own a F-Type R (2WD) and looking to change. No reason, I just get itch to change every 12 months ish, Interested to know where you went after the F-Type.

I've looked at Guilla QF, M2c, M4, C63s, GT4. All great but really not found something tempting me to change yet or too compromised. My dream car is 991 GT3 Manual but out of budget of course. Drive GT4 at Porsche PEC day. Great for track but not for road, its gearing annoyed me and a bit cramped as a daily. Plus values drop somewhat with daily mileage.

Hi
I’ve always had jags. I tried a 911 ( great car) then went to a DB9 that was amazing. Sadly both gone now as the wife NEEDED a new house 😂
Just got a SV8 to run around in and I love it but hopefully looking at maybe a Ferrari California next year.
Anyone got one that could give there person experience ???

I'm the same. After 12 months I usually change. Can't find anything to replace the R without spending a lot more money. Even been looking at going back to an XKR but doubt if I will. The F type is a hard car to replace because it ticks a lot of boxes for reasonable money m

You're about three weeks early with that quote. Lots of rust issues? On its alloy body and chassis? Explain.

Subframes. Pretty well documented. JLR are dealing with it now (case by case).

Of the vehicles you mention the GT4 is probably one of the least mileage sensitive and great as a daily. For road use the gearing really is a non issue.

I run a few cars including a 991.2 GT3 'manuel' and a GT4. The GT4 really is a great package at effectively half the cost of the GT3 which on most occasions is too fast for road use with its incredible Cup car engine. But it is also utterly absorbing at any speed which is where most similarly priced truly rapid cars fail.

Interesting post thank you. I’ve driven GT4 , at PEC, and ticked many boxes but I also went into 991 2S manual on same day and thought better daily as more options from driving perspective . You could lean on its limits at more sensible speed . Plus more Space.

I really like my F-Type lack of traction to weight issue ! But not at all times. I also use gearbox in dynamic manual lever shift most days, rarely use paddles and auto. I need to drive GT4 on normal road!

I had a V8S convertible and then an R.

When the R went back I got a lightly used Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Will definitely get another F-Type R one day. I miss the noise. biggrin

It's not bad in an AMV8! How do they compare?

F-Type is faster, noisier and more visceral. Aston is more refined and more opulent.

Both are beautiful and give a great sense of occasion.

I had an F-Type R (2wd). Next stop was AMG GTS.....then DB9GT.....then F-Type SVR which was mental. Followed by 991.2 GTS and back to AMG.....nothing really compares with an AMG.

Do try an AMG......

Good luck and regards Brin

Hi Brin

Which AMG did you go back too after SVR.
I tried AMG GT but didn’t really warm to it, but they were £100k then and couldn’t justify price

I actually went for a GTC Roadster. A few reasons for that....principally as I love the look of it and also because the roof comes down. I did go for a drive in a face lifted GTS (with the Panamerica grill and the 515(?) horses) and actually would have bought that if the Merc dealer had accepted my offer....but the GTC was the one I really wanted. Then quite by coincidence as I was almost ready to waiver and offer Merc more for the facelift GTS a perfect spec GTC Roadster came up. That Merc dealer was more amenable and I ended up with that.

The SVR I had was a delight but really, too frightening!

Regards Brin
