X150 Active Exhaust - Impact on power?
Discussion
Has anyone got any idea what, if any, loss in power is caused when the active exhaust is closed, vs open?
I ask because I've just switched to 200 cell cats for my XKR (4.2) and, while I'm happy with idle and normal driving, they are noisier than I find comfortable when accelerating, even with a standard back-box, primarily when the active exhaust opens.
My thoughts are that if I alter the active section to be permanently closed, or semi-closed, it'll quiet things down, but I suspect that the increased resistance, especially at higher revs, may have a big impact on power. If it's in the order of a few hp, then I'm not fussed, but I know custom systems on other cars can really strangle performance.
