I may have found a good deal on a '95 XJR, and need some pointers......

It had an engine re-build a year ago, so apart from asking whether it was a Jag main dealer, what else do I need to know?

Any other things I should ask about an XJR of this age (suspension bushes and tyres excluded)?

Is it worth holding fire for a later model? I don't know what changes were made to the model up to the current one....

Thanks in advance guys!

My 95 XJR had to have new air-con condenser, dryer, main pipe and re-gas at a cost of £618.00 (see it all the time on this age of vehicle, the mechanic said). Exhaust system was getting tired.

Sorry don’t know much else about cars. (You say not to mention suspension bushes, but I will. Rears – about £350 with one or two other bits doing).

You mention engine rebuild. I thought the straight 6 was good for 150,000 miles.

All the best.

The XJR 6 is a good car, but eclipsed by the post 98 XJR V8 (IMHO of course).

I'd say stretch your budget for an early V8, if you can. Unless you really like the XJR 6, in which case - fair enough. The V8 has 370 bhp as opposed to 315, has a far superior MB derived 5 speed auto, and a much improved interior.

My 98 XJR V8 with 123K, full Jaguar service history just went for £8000
