Going to look at an XF tomorrow that a friend is selling (she works at a dealer so can get decent finance, let's not start a finance debate please).

It's a 2012 January registered 61 plate 3.0 diesel Luxury with around 45k miles, circa £9,500 before any discount. I realise they come fairly well specced as standard but is there anything that is a must have? It doesn't have heated seats which is a bit annoying but I'll survive if it's nice. I've been told it has Bluetooth and reversing camera.

Will be looking up recalls to see if it's missed anything, service history etc.

The luxury is the bottom-spec’d trim level, along with the lower-powered 3.0d, so it won’t be well spec’d compared to a portfolio S model. Normal things to look out for are
- mileage and age-related suspension issues
- boot loom breaking
- engine oil diesel dilution

Yep the luxury is base spec and that age is on the cusp of the facelift. It would have to be mega cheap for me to consider a luxury as there are so many portfolios around

How was it Rod?

45k miles in 7 years doesn’t sound like an ideal profile for the engine. Were there any DPF issues on your drive?

Also I found that the reversing cameras are next to useless in the daytime as the contrast is almost non-existent with just a whiteout and the ability to make out a few shapes. I just go by the beeps from the sensors now.

I picked up a 2010 XFS and have loved every mile in it so far. Fingers crossed you found a good one.
