OK, so the money pit has started. 1998 XJR. Top mounts are shagged. Do I have to bite the bullet and spend 500 euro a pair for the whole top plate, or is there a cheaper alternative?
I think I'm going to end up working my way through every bush and wheel bearing. rolleyes

Can't help with alternatives but all the parts you mention have finite lifespans, these will wear out and require replacement come time. There are, however, only so many of them so as long as the major things like springs and shocks are in decent condition then replace the bushes and other smaller parts together if you can, that should breath new life into the car.

Yes, at the end of the day, it's a 20 year old car.
I´ll slowly work my way through it. Just wondered if there was any alternative sources for cheaper OEM parts, but it appears from my brief interweb searches, that everyone has the same price for these, so I may as well buy them from Jaguar Classic Parts, unless someone on here knows a good source.

Well on the X150 a lot of the suspension parts etc. are made for Jaguar by Lemforder. If you buy it from Jaguar it is a Lemforder part in a bag with a Jaguar sticker on it, for example costing £100. If you buy direct from Lemforder (or a reseller) it costs (for example) £50. So the price of the Jaguar sticker is therefore £50...

The Lemforder parts catalogue is here, you might find the parts you need in there - https://webcat.zf.com/?SPR=4

Thank you for that Sir. I've had a browse through quite a few of the PDF catalogs, but they don't seem to list the X308 model confused
I find it hard to swallow that you have to buy the whole top plate, just for some rubber bushes that can be pressed in.
I see plenty of aftermarket bush kits, but not for the model with CATS suspension.

The X308 is on that electronic catalogue I linked to before but I don't know which engine you have so I can't find the part you need - do check it out, though.

On the X150 cars at least, you have to replace a whole wishbone if one of the bushes is gone (assuming you stick with Jaguar parts), apparently this is because of the chance of damaging the aluminium wishbone whilst pressing out the old bush and pressing in the new one. Not sure if your X308 has alu. parts or not though.

Thank you 8bit, I did eventually find the right link, but there´s not much there for suspension, apart from ball joints.
My car is a 1998 XJR, the 4.0 V8. I think there ar some alloy suspension arms from what I've seen on the interweb, I haven't been under it much yet, I'm still finding my way around it after only a week of ownership.
I suppose I'l have to bite the bullet and buy the original parts from my local dealer.

Yes Sir. They only have for non adaptive control cars.
What I don't get, is why are they 50 quid each for a non adaptive control set up, and 250 each for a car with CATS?
As far as I can see, the only difference is the hole in the bush is bigger for the car with CATS.
Obviously there's more of a difference than that, but I don't see it.
