Thought I should introduce my new car as I've been keeping an eye on this forum for a while trying to pick up some tips.
Bought for my wife and to commute in. The first part hasn't gone very well as she hates the size and I think I'm going to struggle to get her comfortable driving it! The first commute this morning though was great no problem in stop start traffic, left foot braking is easy, and so comfortable. 50% success rate so far 😁
Bit of a gamble buying this one as there was no service history or owners handbook so will be getting a full service Inc plugs and a gearbox oil change asap. Then a proper detail and wheel refurb after winter, why do all the Jaguars I've seen all seem to have poor finish on the wheels?
Lack of handbook is a pain as I can't work out why the driver's seat fully reclines when the engine is switched off and how to cancel the sat nav which is still trying to get me home from yesterday!

Any way the journey begins

I do have to ask, why the left foot braking?

Cheers Jas.

Left foot braking makes for really smooth progress in slow/stop/start driving and the peddle layout in the xj really works well for this.

You got one then !
If your wife doesn’t like the size then thank God you didn’t get the LWB!!
The Jag Specialist in Doncaster ( I’m up here at the moment )does the gearbox service for £250 + vat.
Once you’ve done a few miles and have a list of things to do,you can sweeten the wife by taking her to a nice hotel up here, get the work done and still be quids in compared with having all the work done by someone in Essex.

I bought an X351 XJ LWB for my wife, and she loves it (mostly). She was a bit intimidated by the size initially (having been used to her SLK) but now takes this every time. Unless there's a multi-storey car park in the equation. I'm sure your wife will come round if she perseveres.

Not sure about the left-foot braking. Alternating between manual & automatic means I stand it on it's nose if I use my left foot. Right-foot all the time for me.

I suspect the seat is moving as easy entry / exit is selected. Move the steering column adjustment switch off AUTO and this should stop it

You should see a ‘Cancel Guidance’ button in the route options menu

After a morning trying to find an on line owners manual neither of those items were mentioned so thank you very much, I'll give that a go on the way home thumbup

Full service just booked to include spark plugs. An hour and a half labour to change 8 plugs seems excessive but if she's been ignored service wise I would rather a specialist has a good look over the car. Wonder if anyone has used JLR/Mercury in Brentwood?

It's the Fat bd option; it can be turned off.

The satnav will have a 'cancel guidance' button somewhere, see handbook. Get one on eBay.
