Had my XK8 a week now and am very pleased with it - but boy, is it HUGE. I have no idea where the car ends. It's a 2001 model year car without parking sensors.

My dealer (Paramount) say Jag will only allow them to retrofit original equipment sensors and quote over £1000.

Anyone have any experience/views on aftermarket sensors and fitters? I'm tempted by the Taurus T123 which uses magnetism not radar so doesn't need drilling - a metallic strip goes along the inside edge of the bumper.

All responses keenly awaited !

Thanks

I got 'em on the rear and they are brilliant. Never need to look out the back!

I wish they had 'em for the front thou. Can't see squat and like you say, she be a big beast!

Rear parking sensors get a mention in the ‘Specials’ section on this website.

I've had sensors fitted to the pick-up due to its size and that I spend alot of time in multi-storey car parks. I think mine are laserline and were fitted for less that £200, do the job perfectly well.

What did you guys drive prior to the XK?

The XK is not a big car, really.

I had an NSX - and you could see the rear spoiler out the back, just where the car ended.

Get your point, 'cos the NSX looks huge.

Mine doesn't have parking sensors - if I am in doubt I get out to check!!

If anyone is tempted by this device PM me - I didn't buy one as I had some feedback from a dealer that I shan't post...

I was ANTI sensors untill I bought my XKR, found I was ether hitting the wall or stopping a yard away.

Had some fitted when I was having the Arden body kit fitted, would not be without them now.

Hi Benzedrine, you could try these people.....havn't used them myself. The Centurian ones seem to be the best. Cheers, Jon www.parkingsensors.co.uk/reverse_alert.asp They also do the Taurus ones and probably reached the same conclusion as your dealer contact !!!!!!
