Just ordered a P8

Has anyone who has ordered one investigated PPF options ? As with the parts being CF they need to be protected !

I was concerned about this too but my P8 was delivered with PPF protecting all the vulnerable areas; front splitter, leading edge of side sills, rear wheel arch area, mirrors, etc and P8 press cars have the same PPF protection as mine, so maybe this protection is standard. Will check and confirm that's the case tomorrow.

In other news, I have to say P8 is a blinding car, I initially hesitated ordering one but having taken delivery of one recently I'm very glad I did. 1000miles in and I have to say it's something else, being crazy quick yet easy to live with. The supercharged engine reminds you what real instant power is all about, I drove a new-gen RS4 recently and it felt ho-hum after the P8. The RS4 engine felt very turbo'd and you really had to rev it to extract the performance, while the P8 throttle response is instant and it feels excessively powerful all of the time. Brakes are extraordinary too. Shame few will ever get to experience driving a P8 but in this era of political correctness, it feels extra special..

thanks for the reply Harry

Interesting it got some already - I wonder if SVO could offer more coverage as part of final production - I'll ask the question

Im due to take delivery in December

Great to hear your initial thoughts

I went to the same Preview evening as you last year and I too was hesitant, but was able to take the plunge recently - now really looking forward to it.

I've got for road spec, with rear seats - pretty much every other option, but standard paint as no more special order paint is possible due to timings

I couldn't get confirmation ppf is standard fit yesterday but will try to find out again on Monday. Mine is a 4-seater too and we've used it as a 4-seater more regularly than I expected to. P8 is another car that has been snagged by the new WLTP emission rules, which came into force 1st September, hence why all UK P8 need to be registered and with their owners before 31st December.

That's also another reason why I went for it because I believe it's not going to be possible to build this type of no-compromise car again. WLTP means a gas-particulate filters need adding to the exhaust on all petrol powered cars, which kills sound as well as increasing back-pressure, reducing bhp in the process. Maybe clever engineers will find a way around this issue but I'd rather buy now and not have to worry about it!

Get it ppf’d! The P8 I drove last weekend had 2k miles and the exposed bodywork around the wheels had major pebble rash. It will be very tricky/time consuming to get the front bumper done, but hey. I’d wrap the whole thing.

Colour?

Many Thanks 595 Heaven, I have responded.

Harry (or anybody else with experience of a Project 8), could I ask a question please. What is ground clearance like in the UK? I live in London and whilst most of my 'fun' driving is done out of town speedhumps etc are alas unavoidable. Any thoughts there? Thank you in advance.

That was the latest news at an SVR drive event last weekend talking with the SVO sales team.

If you want the Jaguar contact I can put you in touch, but you may already be sorted?

Update:
The PPF on my car is fitted to all P8 as they leave the production line. SVO took a P8 prototype to VMAX a few months ago without protection and it got picked up a fair few stone chips, so SVO developed a ppf kit to fit to all customer P8 as a result. It covers all vulnerable areas but not whole panels.

Also, I visited Litchfield Motors last week to have my P8 dyno'd because it feels indecently rapid to me(!) and I was keen to find out what the actual bhp was. Here's the video of the run.. https://youtu.be/R92vGx4xqn0

Just to square this circle, I’ve worked with Xpel UK who will now have a pattern for the car for current / future owners.

Also, for the record, my car had zero PPF from factory.

Having now seen the car in person, there are some areas that will simply be annihilated by stone chips, so PPF is a must

Glad to see others have had theirs delivered.

Harry, I know you’ve had yours for a while and I appreciate you letting me have a go when we were both at Silverstone the other week for the P8 owners drive. It was good to see you again.

Mine is, I’m told, imminent but I still don’t have a firm date.

Interesting that you’ve had different experiences on factory PPF. I’ll check with my dealer whether it’s included or not.

My P8 is soon to be on the road! It’s bespoke BRG to match the p7 with white decals, 4 seats.

Anyone got any experience of how long it took from sending the paperwork to the DVLA to getting it back registered? Paperwork was sent off this last Monday but no response yet so can’t drive it!! I had full PPF done at Topaz in London (same for P7, they do wonderful work).
