2013 XF Stop/Start | Which Battery?
Discussion
Hi Knowledgeable Pistonheads,
I'm looking for an unequivocal answer as per the title of this post. I know this is PH!
If I turn climate control OFF the Stop/Start works. If I turn climate control ON (at any temperature (external or target)) the Stop/Start doesn't work.
There are two batteries in my XF, a standard 12v and a smaller one. Searching the internet suggests that one battery is just for starting the car and the other runs the ancillaries whilst Stop/Start is in Stop mode. But .. the answers on which battery does what are conflicting. I'm willing to replace both batteries if need be but I'd like a better than 50% chance of replacing the correct battery first.
Can anyone help?
Olly

It's the biggest battery that takes the work so its that one that needs replacing , the smaller one does do the audio system so if its low it will shut down the radio , only an issue if parked or you you dont use the car often like me, I've not really looked into it but that was the issue I had
But for what its worth I'd replace both , make sure you get a AGM type for the main battery or you''ll s/s will never work
I fitted these to my 2012 62 XFR
019 Enduroline AGM Car Battery 95Ah, Exide EK151 AGM Car Battery
Cost just over £200 for the pair delivered from Tayna Batteries
