Folks,

I am driving around with the headlining resting on my head. A proper fix would be be nice, but what limited cash I have to going to the suspension, and that hole in the exhaust.

I've heard you tack it up using upholstery tacks as a quick fix. Anybody done this? How long are the tacks? Does it work? I know it'll look tacky (groan). but better than the sagging mess I have now.

Was this problem sorted with the X308?

Cheers

No
I actually think I remember reading of people needing to sort out their X308 headlinings before seeing people reporting issues on the X300s.

I had this problem with my X300.

I used upholstery pins from a crafting shop. The corkscrew wire was about an inch long which is in truth a little long as the hard foam it goes into isn't that deep. But they worked and looked OK as the head was a plastic crystal effect. As I recall 4 quid for too many.

But the real fix was to get some half moon segment type dowel, two pieces going across the width of the car just held in place by tension. Stained the right colour they look fine and work really well. As someone said who looks upwards anyway?

Stupidly I sold the car. It was gorgeous. There's a lot to be said for swanking about in one of these beauties. However, there's also a lot be said for not requiring your own petrol tanker.
