I’m having some problems with my 2010 Jaguar XF 3.0d S.
My mechanic has diagnosed the following issues with both turbos:

Left turbo has a sticky waste gate.
Right turbo has a intermittent fault with the actuator.

Having spoken to him he has said that both turbos will need to be replaced and it’s not a job he is able to do, apparently it’s a very awkward job.

Looking for some advice to see if anyone has suffered similar problems, I had the actuators changed on my 335d, and that seemed like a relatively straightforward process, so surprised that actuators can’t be changed on the jag.

The car drives fine until the restricted performance light comes on, at which stage it goes into limp mode.
RP mode is random, occasionally it will come on within the first half mile, majority of time it will be at higher rpm.
When the car does not go into RP mode within the first half mile, I found that if I shifted manually using the paddles, before about 3k rpm I could use the car normally and it won’t go into RP mode. Therefore I expected the secondary turbo was the issue.
Not sure if the left or right turbo is the secondary?

It’s also had the cross over valve changed about 2 k miles ago. This has been checked to ensure its fully calibrated and working correctly , which it is.

Think it might be worthwhile finding a jag specialist in Bucks/ Berks , any recommendations?

It would be wise to go to a Jag specialist for a 2nd opinion. The turbo's are generally reliable. Not heard of another 3.0d needing replacements and I've been lurking on JaguarForum.com X250 section for 3 years since I've had my own.

Actuators are a known fault on the XF3.0S

I have had two XF's and both had to have the actuators replaced. the second was at my expense because the extended warranty did not cover actuators. It did say the turbo was covered, but they claimed the actuator is not technically part of the turbo (This was Car Care Plan).

I lost the will to live arguing with them and just paid it

However, 6 months later I got he limp mode and was told the actuator had gone - after some discussion it was "oh yeah, it was an airflow sensor" and actually covered under warranty.

My XF 3.0D would go into RP mode regularly. Cause - duff sensor. So that's the first thing to test, if you haven't already.

Never had sensor problems with any other Jags.

I,vr had issues with RP mode being triggered by boost loss. The cause was the plastic intake manifold cracking due to age. It would flex occasionally and create an intermittent issue
