I've recently decided I want to get an F Type at some point soon. My 360 has to be left on a trickle charger but I won't be able to get a 2nd space with a socket in our underground car park. Does the F Type also need a trickle charger, and how long could it go without charging (assuming it needs to be)? It will potentially make a big difference to my plans. Sorry this has probably been asked before but I'm new to the Jaguar forum. Cheers

I have left my F-Type up to two weeks with no use and had no battery related issues. The later ones have AGM batteries fitted which probably helps.

My new XF, which probably has a similar smart charging/stop-start/AGM battery system to the XF was left for 11 days back in January with no issues.

However, early May, immediately after a 100 mile + journey, it was left for 4 days. I got in it to find a “low battery, please start car” message. It strayed fine and was OK for the next few weeks, in almost daily use with a good mix of long runs and local.

At the end of May, after another 4 day break I got the same message. The battery was down to 11.5v.

It went in for investigation last week. They had it all day, no loan car, a total of 120 miles for the wife and me, 90 miles on two cars getting the XF there and back

On returning at 5 to pick it up I was asked if I could leave it with them overnight. They had done a full health check, including tyre tread depths, full underbody video (which I received at 7.00am today!) etc but had only got around to checking the battery at 3 pm, when they tested it and put it on charge.

I was told they could find no fault and the question then, of why the warning, elicited little more than a shrug, and a comment that some cars, including Land Rovers (?) have been known to do that and that it’s all to do with the smart charging system.

So I’ve had the car back a week and it’s been stood since Friday am. I’m out tonight and will see if I get the warning again.

The point of this missive is that it may well not be safe leaving a modern Jaguar for a prolonged period and if you have an issue you may well not get much in the way of service.

A conditioning charger is probably a good idea but of course isn’t much good if you leave the car at eg, an airport.
