V8 Vantage to FType-R
Discussion
Hi all. I'm potentially looking to change cars from a V8 Vantage Roadster to a V8 Ftype-R. There don't appear to be many used V8 FType-R convertibles on the market so I'm being patient but in the mean time can anyone recommend a buyers guide or any tips / advice when looking?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Not sure I can offer much above the obvious. So many are low mileage (probably because the boot is so small!), they should all still be well sorted cars.
I bought mine a year ago. Looking today I was surprised how little entry level prices have dropped. Only a couple of £k it appears.
Enjoy the hunt.

I think it sounds much better than the Aston and the gearbox is a night and day improvement (thank goodness). Think I need to go and drive one.
Interesting. And I was thinking of going the other way. F Type R to Aston. I bought the couple. Reason why, boot space is limit on the convertible. Still a fantastic car.
I have a bit of a nightmare story to tell about buying an F type if any wants to hear it.
Good luck.
I want RWD, not interested in AWD one bit in a drivers car, personally.
Interested to see mention of boot space again - seems to be a common complaint of the F-Type, is that just people living up to the golfing stereotype? Boot size is not an issue high on my list of must haves for a sports car.

Isn't the boot of the F-Type rather bigger than the open top XKR. I seem to remember reading an interview with one of the design team who was saying that when they did the X150 the working assumption was that owners would have other cars as well and wouldn't think of boot space as an issue. When it came to the F-Type they felt that many potential purchasers would have one as an only car and so they needed to make it more practical. There's also the custom luggage for the F which I bet helps. I can't afford to have a butler following me around in a Range Rover to convey SWMBO's bag while the wife and I shoot off in the XK.

Will do. Need a bit of time Again a 6 month fight the JAG CRC to get them to reinatetbthe previous software, nice product but lots of quality issues let down by poor customer service , for me I woukd not touch another JLR product.
Of course this is only my experience and I really hope that I am in the minority !!

Never been near a golf pitch, but for touring it can be an issue. I can only get a crash helmet in there by emptying the recess in the floor.I dropped the Ftype off at Rybrook Mclaren Birmingham yesterday, was sad to leave it to be fair!! They are going to retail the car, its pristine if anyone is on the lookout!!
Anyhow collect the 570S on my return from holiday, its going to be an excited wait, will post a picture when I can.
