I was amazed to see the trip computer showing an average fuel consumption of 32MPG yesterday. By my reckoning that means that the fuel pumps are running slower when doing a constant 50 through the "road works" on the M1 than they do in stop start traffic in a jam.
I only have an XK but on another thread I mentioned I was getting 37.2 mpg at a steady 70 mph. Pretty good for a 4.2 l V8. Makes it easier to justify the purchase to my wife who is obsessed with fuel economy !XFR here, but same 5.0l supercharged engine.
I was amazed to see 28.7 MPG from Bournemouth to London the other week. Could have been higher, but there was a spot of heavy stop start traffic on the M3. So i'm guessing that i could see about 32MPG on a steady 60MPH route.
Normally i see about 18MPG, at best.
