Hi All, is it possible to convert a 2.2 estate to AWD? I would love to have the AWD, and the fuel economy. Mick

Surely more cost / hassle / loss of resale than stumping up for the extra fuel consumption of 3.0 V6?

Nothing like a post with plenty of information eh?!

Possible? Yes.
Sensible and cost effective? Absolutely not.

.

People are obsessed by mpg. Threads and threads about it. They buy new cars to get better mpg yet somehow forget about depreciation or other costs as long as they save a few quid per mile.

One of the reasons the 2.2d has decent MPG is that it doesn't have to carry 100kg of power-sapping transfer box, driveshafts etc that the AWD system requires...

A few quid per pile? I'm interested!

The other one is people who buy a car because the tax is £50 cheaper - made worse by the fact they they keep telling you! Me, I'm paying for nurses and teachers... damn tax dodgers...

They was one poster who bought a polo bluemotion to save money on fuel. He spent a few thousand on a new turbo and clutch, but it's o.k he gets great mpg..

And EcoSmug points of course. Can't imagine anything worse than a car that cuts out very time you stop banghead

(NB I meant mile not pile!)

Even on the XKR I can't get to a quid per mile. Worse case I might get to 1 quid for two miles. Should I be trying harder?
