XJ X350 diesel for commute

Subject to interview results I shall be returning to the UK.
Based in the Middle East I ran a 2004 X350 4.2 V8 and now looking at a X350 diesel. The most modern and least mileage car I can find for a commute from the Peak District to London and back 4 times per month. Is there anything I should particular look for that differs from the V8?
