2002 Jaguar XK8.
Can anyone advise please ?
Engine starts fine , ticks over for approx 1 minute and then starts to " hunt ."
Main beam and both indicator lights permanently on.
Temperature , oil pressure and charging guages don't work , but each has a red light top right hand of the circle.
I have employed a mobile mechanic who connected up his diagnostic laptop to the car.
The following message was displayed on his computer.
P1638 -- CAN LINK -- ENGINE CONTROL MODULE/INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CIRCUIT NETWORK MALFUNCTION.
The mechanic had no idea what this meant ( but still charged £50 .)
Anyone any ideas ?
