Just booked my car in for it's annual service and was advised that it needs a ten year service.

This is a lot more extensive - and expensive than the usual.

Now being a 2008 model the car is ten years old, but has only done 40k miles.

Does anyone know if the ten year service is set in stone or is there some leeway according to the mileage ?

The car also has a warranty which is dependent on correct servicing being carried out so I also have to consider this.

It's just plugs isn't it?

Take it to The Jag Specialist in Doncaster and get much better value for money. Dare I say it but have you considered changing the valley hose?

Some good news.

Services at my local Jaguar main dealership are now booked from a faceless, centralised service centre , which seems to be common practice these days.

I did question the price when I booked the car in, but as I've got a good relationship with the local dealership I went ahead with the booking thinking I would sort it out when I took the car in.

I didn't need to as, on arrival, they told me I'd been wrongly quoted. The person taking the booking had got it completely wrong and my service has cost less than half of the original quote.

I haven't driven the car for a few weeks, yet it fired up first time (no battery conditioner) and I'd almost forgotten how much I enjoy driving it.

I admit I'm biased, but I think the X358 XJR and the last of the XKR's have just the right combination of looks and performance that the newer models lack.
