I was reading the brochure for the xjc and according to the description the coachlines were hand painted.
I’m wondering if this was actually true?
If so what colours were used?
The brochure only shows cars with the chrome bodyside trim.

Possibly, but by using a wheel with paint on the rim to run along the side

I used to work for a layland body shop back in 78.79ish and worked on many coupes when they were new mainly for PDI work and crash stuff thats the main reason ive got one today.just loved them back then.i think they were paint from the factory .no idear what colours thou.but after repairing them we use to replace the painted ones with vinyl ones.sorry i cant help any more as it was a long time ago.

Well that’s interesting that you confirmed the coach lines were originally painted, it’s the details that count and I’ll have a chat with my cars restorer if he can do that. Thank you smile
