XFR Handbrake

Hello All.

The electronic handbrake on the car has stopped working.

When I try to apply it a warning light appears on the dash.

The light stays on until the engine is restarted.

Any thoughts appreciated.

This happened to our XF, it was nothing more than the rear pads needing changing. If you use it on a regular basis, that's hopefully all it is.

More serious problems can arise from actually not using it.

Has this happened more than once? I experienced the same thing once, but when I next came to use the car it had decided to work again.

With ours, it was every now and again, gradually got worse as the rear pads got thinner and thinner. New pads, problem gone

It’s constant now it’s happened. Rear discs look fine

Thats great, but have you checked how much meat is left on the pads?
