Jaguar XKR-S GT
Discussion
So, after numerous Porsche GT cars (and a McLaren MP4-12C I'd rather forget about) I've decided to plump for something a bit different to ferry me to and from continental road trips and the odd track day at the Nurburgring and Spa: a Jaguar XKR-S GT!
Now, I know it won't be every Jaguar lover's cup of tea being somewhat "vulgar" in colour and shape but it certainly appeals to the 12 year-old-petrolhead in me.
Time will turn out if I've bought a Christmas turkey or an extremely rare and exotic big-cat..!

From the sales blurb: 'This XKR S GT is 1 of 10 [my comment: RHD] examples in the world. The car boasts 542bhp from its 5.0 V8 supercharger which will take the car up to 186mph. To make this car Jaguar removed the rear seats, installed light weight bucket seats with 4 point harnesses in the front, added a large rear wing to add 145kg of downforce [my comment: really?!] and extended the front suspension track by 52mm. All of this added together to create a Jaguar like no other. Lapping the famous Nürburgring in 7 mins and 40 seconds [my comment: I'll give it a go!]. This high performance coupe is offered in exceptional condition and has covered only 1,400 miles by its 1 private owner. The car also benefits from a full Jaguar main dealer service history.'

If you would like to know how the XKR-S GT DRIVES then I would recommend this short video from Chris Harris at a pretty wet Oulton Park!

If you would like to know how the XKR-S GT SOUNDS then I would recommend this longer video from Saabkyle04 in the USA (best bit is between 14mins 50secs and 16mins 10secs for sound or, if you're a complete car geek like me, feel free to watch the full 21 minutes for the full low-down!)

Alexanders have organised for paint protection film to be applied to the front and sides of the XKR-S GT, prior to transpoting it to me on Friday.
I thought PPF would be sensible since I plan a few European road trips this year, including the Le Mans Test Day in early June, and want to keep the “as new” paintwork just that.

Lifted the bonnet on the GT for the first time today after it arrived with me last weekend. Unsurprisingly, its immaculate which is no surprise given that it was a one owner car before I bought it and had only covered 1,500 miles since registration. Basically, it's lived in a bubble for four years only venturing out for its annual service. The GT is still going to receive all the right TLC from me but it's also going to be used as intended - a few continental road trips, including to Le Mans etc. beckon this summer. Still, it's going to be a bit of a shame the engine bay won't remain absolutely spotless: my OCD likes it!
