Hi all. Any tips for through where to insure a 2017 F-Type? I have a month before renewal and wondered if you had any experience with any good independent or specialist insurers? Thanks in advance.

Believe it or not Sainsbury's are spot on, even when I had to claim last year.

Have been using NFU Mutual for mine - very good level of cover at a decent price.

Thanks for the replies. I should be getting the renewal invitation through from my current insurers any day now so will compare with the ones suggested when it arrives.

Hastings came up reasonable ish when I bought mine. I was quite surprised how much it jumped up when I swapped it from the R8. Was with Admiral for the R8 and they wanted sill money for the F-type.

Funnily though just got a quote for the mrs Discovery and Admiral where about £200 cheaper than others. Think the whole thing is just pot luck!

Price comparison sites? I ask the meerkats annually, and this year Hastings came up trumps for my XFR.

If you go down the price comparison route, it's worth playing around with your voluntary excess, and some other aspects: I found that keeping my car 'on a driveway' was cheaper than 'in a locked garage', and that a £350 voluntary excess was cheaper than a £500 one.

Hi Jag,

Yea I've done the online comparison. I always use Moneyfacts as they are about the only site that does not leave a record on your credit history record. The best price from a company I would use using Moneyfacts was £422 with Axa. But I just got a price of £312 from Aviva, with a voluntary excess of £550, going direct to their site. Their price explanation says that I have received a 20% discount as I have other policies with them. I'm more than happy with that so unless my current insurers come in and best the Aviva price I'll be moving over to Aviva.

Ok the renewal from Direct Line came in at £677. Ridiculous price for a 54 year old pay! So hello Aviva!

Even at 54, i'd say £312 is a bargain.

I'll be hunting around further when mine is up for renewal as I found £550 a bit steep.

Aviva came in at £359 once I'd added in legal cover and NCD protection. Still a good price.
