I live in London and am looking for a good paint shop to be able to respray my Jaguar Sovereign LWB 1999. The ones i have found either wish to charge 4-8K which is ridiculous or 500 which is extremely cheap and they did not have an oven in the garage .

Would appreciate it if anyone knows of a good garage at a reasonably price. I can drive the car anywhere within 100 miles of London.

Many thanks in advance.

I would recommend TGM Sport in Fleet. They are a Honda specialist really but I have seen their paintwork first hand on several cars and it is as close to factory as you are going to get. Their prices won't be 500 quid, and they won't be 4 to 8 grand either.

I have seen some really bad paint jobs on Jag's before, so don't go for one of the 500 quid ones, it will be awful.

Depends what standard you're looking for.

I would have thought £4k is a bargain for a decent glass-out repaint.

When I talked to the guy who painted my XK150 about doing my X300 his comment was they're big and they use a lot of paint. Using the materials he likes to work in he reckoned that a proper job would be over 4K in materials.

You've misunderstood, of course. That price was including materials.

Provided it's not a bare metal respray, the materials cost will be around £800.

Can I ask what your XK150 repaint cost and was it bare metal, glass out ?

I'm looking for a bare metal repaint on my own XK150 shell and finding it difficult to get a sensible figure. I certainly expect to pay more than £4k! My guess is that materials alone will be in the region of £1000/1200

I'll send you a PM, but no I didn't have a bare metal respray, I didn't set out to have a complete respray at all. I wanted a couple of bits tidied up, then while they were at it a couple more bits made sense and then... Oh sod it you'd better just paint the rest of her...
