I think it looks really great. Trouble was hat I was given an X-Type as a coutesey car the other day and boy was I disappointed. Interior drab, 2.0ltr pointless. Mind you sports seat were v comfy. Suspension soft and no rear leg or headroom. Pity really.
I saw in Autocar that Jag USA are going to drop the X-Type coz its so bad.

I have not driven the 2 litre so I cannot comment-but you should not judge the X type purely on the basis of the entry level model.
It does come with 2.5 and 3 litre engines as well-both of which have 4WD.
I think the estate version of the X type is a fine looking car-one of the best looking estates on the market.

Now how about a convertible X-Type?
No thanks.
I do think Jaguar should bring out an Audi TT competitor though.
A cheaper two seater, or 2+2, would fit the brand perfectly.
That would have been the F-Type, which was shelved so they could concentrate on diesels, estates and other mundane non-entities,

The one I saw was Tungsten Grey try this:www.jaguar.co.uk/uk/en/vehicles/concept_cars/r_concept.htm
Although it was heralded as, and styled on, the XJ,(maybe to re-enforce it's "Jag-ness"). The "X" type "baby Jag" I feel has served it's purpose, and it's time to move quickly on, to an identity of it's own. I think we must remember that this is the "first" of the range and still has a market niche to find.
I've never driven one, but the first thing is the interior: how does it match up? Second, the ride: Smooth and silent? should be, it's a Jag. Performance, a good engine (Diesel or petrol) should be at LEAST as good as the BMW, if not better.
But first, it needs a design of it's own to attract the market it serves, it needs to be fast and agile, yet with room for the Reps needs during the week and the "families" needs at the weekend.
Over to you, Jaguar/(Ford)!

Read in my local paper yesterday about the woes of X-Typa sales, or rather lack of them.
It seems that Ford bosses are coming round to the idea that the small Jaguar was a huge mistake and would not commit to replacing the X-Type when its time is up.
Hopefully they will then concentrate on real Jaguars.

Read in Auto Express that plans for the replacement X Type are well advanced.
I agree with 8Pack that the next X Type needs to be different-Looking more like the RD6 than the XJ.
