I thought I’d ask on here in the hope that a member might be able to offer some advice or point me in the right direction.

A friend is in the process of clearing his garage ahead of some rebuilding work.

Within his garage is almost the complete running gear from an early 1960’s 3.8 Litre Mk2 Jaguar. He owned the car for some time but realised the bodywork was beyond repair so stripped the mechanical componentry in anticipation of using it to build a kit car. The body was scrapped years ago. The kit car idea is no longer going to happen and he would like to sell these matching components.

I have to date seen the engine, manifolds, carbs, manual gearbox, rear axle, front axles, wire wheels and miscellaneous other parts. All were from the same car and he even still has the original buff coloured logbook along with some other history.

Could anyone recommend how they should be valued and would they be easier to sell as a job lot or individually?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

For maximum return I'd suggest selling the parts separately. I'd be happy to use eBay; a trader can't by definition offer best price as they have to make a profit. However to do this will require some effort/photo taking/admin etc.

Thanks for responding.

I'm not averse to putting the parts on ebay for him but I think he'd probably be reluctant to deal with the visitors/timewasters who inevitably surface.

3.8 engines tend to be the ones that are most wanted, so I wouldn't expect you'd find it difficult to find a buyer. Sadly too many people are put off by the Moss boxes reputation so they aren't so popular and since a lot of people have replaced them with later all synchro (you did say early 60s so I'm assuming it is a Moss box) gearboxes or 5 speed ones, there are more of these boxes on the market.

See if you're able to stick a classified ad on the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club website.
