I've currently go a 2009 XF with the 3.0 diesel engine. Mine has been mapped by Celtic tuning and is putting out 307bhp and is a really great drive and not at all slow.
I've had it a couple years and fancy a change for another Jag. Being a family man and with a budget of £15,000 I'm limited to another XF (older XJ's aren't to my taste). Now my question is do I go for the 380bhp 5.0 naturally aspirated V8 with a fairly high spec or do I go for an XFR knowing that my budget is limiting me to the bottom end of the market?
Knowing that electric is going to be forced upon us soon, I just want to own at least one V8 before it's too late.

I had an XF 5.0 V8 n/a for 2 1/2 years until quite recently. I regarded it as a keeper but the wife's hip made it a problem for here hence the regretful change. Now got a Land Rover Discovery Sport.
The XF I had was a great car and they are probably the rarest of the XF models in the UK. It is what is standard for the USA, never advertised in the UK and only available to special order. I think there's maybe 60 or so left here now. My car was a Portfolio Plus (whatever that is) was first owned by a Jaguar executive, so it was fully loaded.
380 BHP was well appreciated and made this I think the most Jaguar like of all the XF models. Just a great cruiser and super fast when needed.
If you can find one, especially one of the facelift models, go for it!

Gets my vote - unless you're definitely after a petrol/XF/both.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...
Another 5.0 n/a owner here (well the wife is anyway). We have a black Portfolio spec 2011 model with ivory leather.
It's been a fantastic car for us, having bought it in spring 2013 with less than 8k miles on it to replace its predecessor, a S-Type 4.2 V8.
We'll probably change it next year at some point, but there's no direct equivalent made by Jaguar these days, i.e. medium-large V8 saloon

Have you had any problems with the V8?
My V6 diesel has been absolutely faultless for the two years I've owned it. It occasionally gets confused and gives a fault warning (usually parking brake or parking sensors) but if I restart the ignition it always works fine again.
Mine seems to eat rear pads but I understand that's normal for the XF.

All of the cars with electric handbrakes eat rear pads the XJ etc do it too
How does the handbrake make the pads wear? Is it just that they're smaller pads with the EHB?
