Hi. Does anyone know the exact type, and dimensions, of the shaped type rear plate on a 2012 final facelift XK ?

Thanks

Is the area different from the earlier version?

Yes, I think so. There seems to be a version 1 and a version 2 for the X150. Your attachment says version 1....

Adamesh say this..... http://www.adamesh.co.uk/jaguar-x150-rear-shaped-n...

My link just says 'Jaguar XK150 Number Plate (528x150mm)'. The XF has different versions not the XK.

As for Adamesh, I think V1 and V2 are personal choice. If it was for year of car wouldn't it say '2006-2009' and '2010 onwards'? But you could ring them and ask.

Good point !

I've actually bought the car and the dealer is going to put new plates on it and I wanted, if poss, to help them make sure they got the right version.

You see lotslots of XF's with the wrong shape plate. Maybe XF plates or S-type plates. They all look awful. The right plate looks great.

Standard plates look awful too. There is a specific aperture created for a specific plate shape - why would you have a standard plate ? But most do. Such a shame.

When I needed to replace the plate on the back of my S-Type, I chose one that looked the closest then finished it off on a disk sander.

It's a shame the XK line has been killed off. I might suggest it was the last proper Jaguar.

I love that attention to detail. Tremendous !

Agreed. Is a shame. F Type is a bit small and hardcore. Final facelift XKs are beautiful (as long as they don't have the awful 'speed' body kit which, for me, spoils the shape - especially the side skirt). They look especially lovely in bright blue or red. But I think by 2012 the production numbers were already relatively small frown

I like the back view, but the rest, nope. What they should have made was the XK180, bloody gorgeous, but I think they couldn't design a hood that worked and the accountants wanted mass-market diesels (like everybody else makes). I saw a Porsche Boxster Spyder today and thought - hmm, that hood design migft have worked...

I got my correct-shape rear plate from Demon Plates - http://www.demonplates.com/.

I know some of the rear design changed in the last facelift of the XK but I don't think the number plate changed. Demon Plates only have a single model-specific shape for all the post 2006 cars, might be worth a quick call or email to make sure they'll fit before ordering.

Hi Oddcat!

Sorry I can't help with the correct number plate size, but congrats on the car purchase! I've been looking at these myself, what spec did you find as I'm unsure about the speed pack body kit as well?

Thanks
R.

Thanks ! I bought a 2012 XK Portfolio (non supercharged). I haven't actually sent it yet as it is 300 miles away ! Collecting on Friday.

I think the body kit cars look awful. They lose some if that coke bottle 'silm waist wide arch' thing for me. The XK should be pure and lithe. Well, thats how I se it anyway no offence intended to owners of body kit cars !

Maybe ask the dealer?

(NB You have an XK X150 not an XK150 of course!)
