xf 2013, what to look for
Discussion
Hi,
Thinking about an XF estate and was looking to go and view one,
are they reliable and what are servicing costs like? I live in Oxford, and am searching google for any local specialists rather than use main stealer.
I am looking at the 2013 XF 2.2 TD Premium Luxury Sportbrake. £17,490 40,000miles
is this a bad decision? is this going to bankrupt me?

All three of my XFs have been way more reliable than my Audis or BMWs were.
If you can afford a 3.0, it's a more refined engine with not much more fuel usage. Things to watch are suspension bushes as it's a heavy car. Short journeys in a diesel - as with any diesel - will mean DPF issues. Other than that, they are great cars, but make sure you have a full main dealer service history, and the tyres aren't cheapo ones. This'll give an indication to its previous owner.

I had an XF 3.0D for 9 months and whilst I agree the interior is the nicest of any rivals, I didn't find the engine 'refined'. It was fairly quiet from outside, but you could distinctly hear the diesel engine noise inside at tickover, and it averaged 37mpg.If you can afford a 3.0, it's a more refined engine with not much more fuel usage.
