I understand the arguments made for Jaguar doing SUV's etc. but my God, as a longtime Jaguar fan who loved their rakish, suave and luxurious saloons, sports cars and coupes, this latest product is just one more step towards making such a unique brand even more generic and downmarket.
And that makes me sad.
And that makes me sad.

Allegedly, and in the short term quite possibly. But what about the long term damage to the brand? Jaguar don't have the brand reputation to get away with it in the same way as the German manufacturers. Meanwhile, their original loyal client base is deserting them, in favor of a more transient client base who don't care what brand they buy and have no loyalty to Jaguar when they fk it up. And there are many horror stories about laxadasical build quality on the latest Jaguar models since the XE. FTFY
It's good that a British brand (albeit Indian owned) is supposedly doing well but I'm not convinced that throwing the baby out with the bath water is really going to pay off long term.
Witness the decline of Rover for a good example of taking a luxury manufacturer downmarket into volume production while cutting costs.

Would you by chance, like to see a return to National Service to drum a bit of discipline into today's youth? It's good that a British brand (albeit Indian owned) is supposedly doing well but I'm not convinced that throwing the baby out with the bath water is really going to pay off long term.

What with this and the cars that were being thrashed around the skid pan at festival of speed, I'd be very wary of buying any jaguar ex demo cars. Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
